USING BUSINESS AS A FORCE FOR GOOD
In early 2024, Pepe Garden Furniture officially became B Corp certified. On this day we join over 4,000 companies, in 153 industries, across 77 countries in being independently verified by the B Lab as ‘using business as a force for good’. This means adhering to the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and accountability.
Pepe Garden Furniture is now the first B Corp Garden Furniture Brand in the WORLD. We join a cohort of over 600 UK B Corps who are reinventing business, by pursuing purpose as well as profit.
To receive certification, we had to provide evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices – including energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. Finally, to complete the certification, we have legally embedded our commitment to purpose beyond profit into our company articles.
As a result, we are now proud to be officially part of a community including well-known brands like Innocent, Patagonia, Riverford, Bloom & Wild, Divine, and JoJo Maman Bebe.
So, what's B Corp?
B Corp is a new kind of business. The ‘B’ stands for ‘Benefit for all’. Simply put, it means we don’t just operate to make a profit. We work towards high social and environmental standards to make a real difference. And we’re not alone. We’ve joined a global movement of forward-thinking companies as mentioned above.
Making the right kind of impact
The journey to get certified is rigorous (and rightly so), and looks into every area of your business. From your products, to your supply chain, to your workplace. We’re incredibly proud to have achieved an impact score of 86.3 from B Lab – way above the minimum required points. It’s a testament to all the hard work our team put in, day in day out.
From John, who's passionate about only sourcing timber from responsible, community-focused suppliers. To Rachel, who's passionate about reducing our carbon emissions towards Net Zero. And to Joe, who's passionate about taking our packaging 100% recyclable, biodegradable or compostable.
But this is just the beginning. It’s on us to keep the momentum going, to embed sustainability even more deeply into everything we do, and to bring our industry and community on the journey with us.
